Arishtams and Asavams are traditional fermented medicinal preparations, typically liquid, made by soaking the herbs (either powdered or in chunks) in water, which is then allowed to ferment. The end result contains self-generated alcohol, which serves as a preservative and helps in the absorption of active ingredients present in the herbs.
